Little Happies -- Food, an Exorbitantly Priced Baby Item, Curls, and More Food

What a whirlwind weekend we just had!! John and I attended a fantastic adoption/foster conference and now we're even more pumped about what lies ahead of us. We heard some great talks, soaked in tons of new knowledge, and even met an adoptive couple that lives only 5 minutes from our home in Memphis. Did I mention the conference was over 300 miles away in St. Louis, MO?? So it was AWESOME. You can bet your boots I'll be writing a "My Life Was Changed Because of This Conference" post PRONTO. I've got so much great wisdom to share with all of you, so I look forward to reflecting and typing that up.

Until then, I've got a handful of Little Happies to hold you over. Please don't judge... they're a little all over the place. I'm absolutely exhausted from this amazing weekend, so I just went through my phone and found some of my best LH pictures from the past week, most of which are somehow related to food. Ha! Can't help it. Food is joy to me, so there ya go.

Hope you have a very happy Monday! Can't wait to read your Little Happies too!

Hip hip hooray for healthy lunches!! Strawberries, Odwalla bar, banana, melon, prosciutto, cheese stick, gluten free crackers. Yummmm! This is a lunch I can get behind. Lots of fruit with a side of meat, crackers, and cheese. I was secretly inspired by Kendra's melon and prosciutto St. Joseph's day appetizer for this one. I had never combined the two before and was pleasantly surprised by their yumminess. Anyway, the moral of the story is... I eat healthy lunches so I can eat not-so-healthy dinners and/or desserts. It's all in the balance, amiright?

St. Therese approves of this fundraiser.

Remember when I mentioned that "Turn a Priest Into a Sundae" fundraiser I planned for the youth group at our parish? Well, here's the result -- one happy priest sundae! He was such a trouper! And the fundraiser was such a success. Makes for one happy youth minister. :)

John and I went baby shopping at Babies R Us last week.

[insert still-in-disbelief Stephanie here]

No, we didn't buy anything, and we certainly did not buy this $250 baby swing. However, John's interest in and excitement for this swing seriously cracked me up. You can't tell by the picture, but they had it plugged in and running. What makes a swing cost $250, you ask? Well, it was pretty impressive; it can swing in several different patterns -- a figure 8, a bounce-bounce-bounce, a U-shape, an arch, and more, and all at varying speeds. It was also very futuristic looking, which made it even more nifty. Pretty sure we're not even going to bother getting a swing, unless baby really needs one to sleep (i.e. we need it to maintain our sanity), but if we do, you can bet it won't be this one. Unless someone's willing to trade in a few months of his clothing budget for this expensive taste item. ;)

Isn't this purty? John actually "made" it for me (I put "made" in quoties since it didn't really require much effort, aside from a few taps on an iPhone screen) using an app he likes -- ARTREE, as in art + tree. You just touch the screen in a few places and, while it plays therapeutic music for you, a random pretty tree is generated. It was super cute when he turned to me, showed me this picture and said, "for you!" with a huge grin on his face. It was like he had bought me flowers or something. Adorbs.

My hair famously does not hold a curl. It's as straight as a pin and it likes it that way, thankyouverymuch. Seriously though, I shower, I blow dry or air dry, and all I get is straight, straight, straight. Pretty boring, in my opinion, by I know others would die for naturally straight hair, so I'll take it!

When we went to go see Jesus Christ Superstar last weekend (which actually turned out to be kind of a flop, by the way: bad acting, cheesy staging, weak singing... oh well!), I decided it was time to whip out and dust off the old curling iron to give some curlies a try again. I mean, it was date night after all, and I wanted to be cute for husband, so I went for it. Plus, in our 5 years of knowing each other, he's never seen it curled! That needed to be remedied, stat. And that's what you see above. I felt very pretty that evening and by curling only the ends + 5 pounds of hairspray, it actually stayed in all night! Oh yeah, and John really liked it too!

We love traveling because time away from the kitchen means fun foods dining out. While we were at our conference all weekend, we found lots of yummy places to eat, including this Indian food buffet. I couldn't tell you the name of it, because I've completely forgotten, but it was DIVINE. Allow me to jealous-ify you by showing you this tasty-but-inedible picture.

And that's all she wrote, folks!!
