Marigold, Two Months

Marigold is two months old!

WEIGHT
12 lb 5 oz, which puts her in the 70th percentile for weight. Hunky girl!

HEIGHT
23 3/4 inches, aka 92nd percentile for length!

SLEEP
Over the past month, overnight sleep has gotten even better while naps have regressed a bit. Overnight, she usually sleeps 7-hour stretches, sometimes as long as 9 hours! But during the day, we're having trouble getting her to nap more than 30 minutes at a time. She'll usually do one longer nap in the middle of the day, like 1.5-2 hours long, but the rest of the naps are more like cat naps, which doesn't exactly work well for the timing of feedings and such. It doesn't matter if she's in the SNOO or on her tummy in her bassinet or being worn in a wrap, she just doesn't want to take the longer naps that she needs. We're hoping this is just a phase and she'll be back to stellar napping soon.

FIRSTS THIS MONTH
-Social smiling all the time, and it's soooo cute!
-Lifting her head up during tummy time, but only for a few seconds.
-Putting her hand into her mouth and licking, sucking, gnawing on it.
-Chatting with us using cute sounds like ahhhh, ooooo, guhhhh.
-Staring up at things on the ceiling (usually fans) and chatting with them.
-Tracking people around the room.

NICKNAMES
Margo, Margo Bear, Li'l Sissy, Sweet Girl, and Margs

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
-My parents flew into town and got to meet Marigold when she was 6 weeks old. It was a most lovely visit filled with lots of Margo snuggles and smiles.

-The following weekend (May 18th), Marigold was baptized on JP2's birthday. We had so many friends and family members present for her first Sacrament and it was such a joyful day!

-John has been back to work for the past month and I'm slowly figuring out my new rhythm having all 3 kiddos on my own. It honestly has not been too bad! Aside from Margo's less-than-stellar naps, we're all adjusting quite well. I've even been able to get all three to nap at the same time most days!  I've yet to venture out of the house with all three, but I'm sure I'll get brave enough here one of these days to give it a try. For now, we spend our days snuggling, playing, cleaning, and the like.

-For a baby that hasn't been napping so well, she's actually so chill and sweet when she's awake. I can put her down under her play gym and she'll happily kick kick kick and wiggle her arms and coo at her toys for 20 minutes. She really only cries when she's hungry or overtired. Otherwise, she's just the calmest little babe.

-John Paul and Jude are continuing to adjust well to life with a little sister. They love to kiss on her, chat with her, hold her (under close supervision of course), and just be around her. When I sit down to nurse her, they hover around me the whole time. John Paul will "watch" her for me when I'm distracted by other quick activities, like changing Jude's diaper or finishing up a load of laundry. This usually means that I put her down somewhere safe and John Paul hovers over her, chatting with her and updating me on what she's doing. Overall, they're doing much better, behavior wise! So I think that means we're through the adjustment period. Here's hoping their relationship with her continues to grow into something wonderful and beautiful.
